Bookham Colts - Juniors Football Team

In keeping with our ethos to "give a little back" to the community we were delighted to meet with Bookham chairman Jeff Potts and the rising stars of the Bookham Colts youth team on 15th March to present them with a general sponsorship cheque of £2,500 at the Chelsea Football Academy in Chelase's training ground in Chobham.

The Bookham Colts team, a youth team section of Bookham Football Club based near Leatherhead provide youth football for 25 teams within the age group range of under 6's to under 17's and have a real strong ethos of "football for football's sake" that Apogee felt a close alignment with.

John Painter, Operations Manager at Apogee, presented the cheque to a delighted team and commented; "the spirit and energy at Bookham Colts is a real feather in their cap and Apogee love nothing more than to support a local cause with a "can do" attitude such as the Colts exhibit."

Bookham FC was set up prior to the 1914-18 war, when it was known as the "Bookham Blues" but it was not until 1921 that the
club became affiliated to the Surrey FA. Of Bookham's 25
teams, 22 play in the Epsom & Ewell Youth Football
League, 2 play in the Surrey Primary League and 1 in
the Surrey Youth & Under 21s League.

Bookham play for fun and not for winning at all costs.
They firmly believe that their players enjoy their
experiences in football above all else and that playing
in the beautiful game is a lesson for life.

The Colts is primarily run by an army of devoted
parents, with help from professional coaches. They
are currently striving to gain FA Charter Standard,
which ensures that the club is well structured and
offers their players an environment where they can
progress and enjoy their football.
