Blake trades Britain for the States...
Blake Aldridge, sponsored by Apogee, took another step towards his goal to conquer the dangerous and exciting sport of Cliff Diving when he came second in the 2011 China International High Diving Competition that ended in Liuzhou City in South China.
Blake was one of 20 overseas competitors participating in the event, which involved jumping from a 90-foot-high bridge over the Liujiang River. Blake came 2nd in this field, which included world-class cliff divers - quite an achievement for a newcomer to this sport.
British 10m synchronised diver, Blake Aldridge, was a finalist in the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics with Tom Daley and has recently taken to Cliff Diving, which is nearly 3-times, the height he is used to. However, he clearly has a talent for this new discipline, as he is the current European Cliff Diving Champion. He was invited to compete in the Red Bull World Diving Series 2011 where his performance resulted in aninvitation to take part in the Red Bull Qualification Competition for 2012.
Blake loves this new and challenging sport and is being supported by Apogee as he progresses towards his goals. Awareness of this sport is increasing rapidly with spectators of 70,000+ attending to see these divers achieve the near impossible.
